Persci 299 Drive with Persci 1170 controller boards

Note: Edited on June 26, 2015

Further to my previous post at Persci Drive and Controller boards? I finally took delivery of the Persci drive.  It does, in fact, contain a Persci 299 dual drive mechanism.  I haven’t yet checked the glass scale to see if this is usable (I assume there is one in this like my Helios II).  This is a critical part that sometimes gets damaged in shipping and is “unobtanium”.

I was able to read the EPROMs on the second of the two Persci cards and embedded in the code was the string “ERSCI 1170 V F.2-5”.  I’m strongly suspecting it’s proof that both cards make up a PerSci 1170 controller.   I have the four 2716 EPROMS dumped in the files area at https://vintagecomputer.ca/files-area/ .  Once I fin d some more information on this set up, I’ll post.  For now, the only piece of documentation I have been able to locate is in this brochure: Persci 1070 1170 Controllers

Below are more pictures in greater detail.

If you have any information on this Persci configuration or, specifically, the Persci 1170 S-100 controller cards, please let me know.

Thank you.

Somewhere I have all the docs, but it might take me a year to find

I have several drives as well

    • That is very interesting that you worked there. These drive are pretty amazing for their time. If you are able to uncover the documentation, please contact me. I’d be happy to share with the vintage computer community as well.

      Thank you for your comment.
